Oddvent ~ Patreon Update #26 (16-12-2024)

It's December! You leap out of bed, tossing your linen thither, racing up to the wall calendar to strike another day off. It's now the 16th! Excitedly you grasp the advent calendar from the bedside table and with the glee of a 6-year-old you spear your index finger into the paper tab, your hooked fingertip rending the door open on the return journey. What goodies, what wonders, what festive boons wait inside? Why, it's several paragraphs of nonsense from a bearded vegetable! You lucky sausage.

Speaking of calendars, it being December and I having shown you the start of the Calendars' Advent Calendar you'll not be extraordinarily surprised to realise that a pretty specific number of those doors have now been opened.

We are, at this point, at full Discord emote saturation and awaiting verification for more stream emotes, so I don't know what the next week and a bit holds. A lot of shuffling faces around probably. 😅

Speaking of things going to plan, did you know that I was working on a comic for November?

As you can see we find ourselves steadfast on the not-finished-yet side of things, but we're definitely making progress now. I can say with a high degree of certainty that it'll be done by the next update. December's titular comic will probably have to wait until the new year, but that actually makes sense because... reasons... shh.

Speaking of next year, look what I did!

I've been having a hell of a time keeping track of all the pretty darn excellent ideas that I keep saying I'll get round to assorting time to start planning to get into the consideration stages of wondering about wanting to do. Thus I made a fiddle-with-able board of ideas complete with an expandable lookup index system streamlining the process of locating and adding to ideas as they come to me.

Will this help me get things done? Probably not. I'd wager that that side of things might take more than some cut-up cereal boxes and felt-tip pens. Neverthefewer it's a step in some direction with a hopefully positive forward component.

Speaking of taking steps, all being well I now have a small band of dedicated sojourners hired to spread my nonsense directly to those who need it! By which I mean I've posted my Christmas cards! One has already arrived (somehow on a Sunday) and the reaction was lovely, so here's hoping my hired footsoldiers (I think they're called 'postal workers' or something) can get the rest to you all post-haste! Literally!

Speaking of being hired to perform tasks, I've been noodling away at some little commissions for folks who have remembered that they support me at the doodle tier here. I should be stricter about all that, but I'm nothing if not easily distractable myself. 🥴

Speaking of distractions, streaming continues its regular flow of nonsense through your screens and into your minds and/or an empty room as you get up to grab yourself a hot chocolate. Resident Evil 4 has concluded in the most anti-climactic of ways, giving way to the, uh... experience that is Hitman: Absolution. If you're familiar with our prior odd-numbered Hitman game experiences you can perhaps extrapolate what game #5 is like, or at least the effect it's having on my brain.

Saturday friend game times saw us prepare for our little Grim Hollow RPG test (I made a stream overlay and everything) before unfortunate personal events diverted us to a chiller time playing (or attempting to play 😡) Return to Moria! All being well our public Grim Hollow game will begin on the 21st! A separate not-public session has already come out (or in, I guess) swinging in which I'm playing my little anger-mismanaged Claudio who, for some reason, has been given darts to stab things with.

Speaking of sharp surprises, Sunday evening friend doodlage times continue where we all noodle around on a rough theme and I occasionally zoom out to see something Too Hot For Twitch in Cheeb's corner. I then don't learn my lesson and put it in the VOD thumbnail.

Speaking of spicy lads, morning streams see us continuing work with the aforementioned November comics, but all being well will switch over to December before the year is out. No, that's not confusing, shush.

Speaking of things being out, I'm out of things to write here and will bid you all a wonderful fortnight to forthcome. I'll be back next time with a November comic, a portrait of Grim Hollow AU Griff, a completed advent calendar, a fully sketched proof of the entirety of October Noir, and the art I made for the Christmas cards. One of those is a lie. Most are guesses.

Thank you so much for all of your support. I aim to make it worth your while next year. My aim's pretty bad, but I'm trying.

Stay warm, stay safe, stay good
