Well would you look at the time! It's February alreaduary! I've heard tell that for many January dragged on longer than Sisyphus' autobiography, but for me it gathered bugger all moss. Still we're here and raring to go, so let's see what wonders I've rolled up for you!
Not much.
So this fortnight I have been mostly trying to rustle up enthusiasm and/or discipline to do anything. At some point the ol' brain beans tumbled out, rolled under each and every one of the slightest of gaps beneath heavy furniture and it's taken me until about *checks watch* an hour and a half ago to get any of them back. Not ideal. Still, streams have kept me on-track (a fact for which I am most grateful) in which we rustled up a nice little painting of my Humblewood RPG quickie character Sal and/or Todd (a la Project Via). Also shown is the commission I completed very soon after the last update for DarkSunRebel's character Alia and their companion Kenkak.
I've also been attempting to revitalise my commission front-end with updated prices, character sheets and the ability to commission me through Ko-fi. With any luck it'll all be up and running by the end of the week! With no luck I'll still be picking up stray beans with one of those cheap, plastic grabby claws.
So my good, good friend JustMissArt teased me into thinking about making a 'Calemmdar' this year and, whilst I'm intent on not falling down the rabbit hole of full-blown illustrations, the opportunity to doodle m'silly character Emm in a variety of classic calendar poses/situations was too fun to pass up, particularly if I can use it for some style and/or colour practise. Anyway here's a hastily scribbled, 31st-of-January-ish lumberjack Emm for your amusement/indifference.
Now have you heard of such a thing as a 'locked command'? Or a 'heckle command'? Should you be a stream regular these concepts may sound familiar to you, particularly given that they comprise about 40% of all stream dialogue. And now there's even more! I've added several dozen God of War lines to both commands as well as a whopping 41(!) Metal Gear Solid clips to !locked. Now that's a lot of doors!
As for other loose-ends I've started delving into the poorly-documented world of home paper recycling, having now made two batches of handmade paper! It's hardly sketchbook quality yet, but I'm ever-so-gradually learning and having a good time with it. I've also almost completed the line-art for a forthcoming comic about the Calendars' origins, so look forward to seeing that somewhere in the next week or so! Oh, and those long-touted Dead Island highlights are, indeed, making their way. I say 'their' because the very-rough-cut for the first 6 episodes is about 50 minutes, so that's going to get split up for sure! 😅
Streams! We've mentioned them already, haven't we? Well why not bring them up again, as Igor said to the indecisive Frankenstein?
Morning streams are now resplendent with a wide variety of nonsense (bean-fuel preservation withstanding) including doodling stream parsnips, locked and heckle doodles, random music challenges and much, much more! (Mostly waffling)
Tuesday & Wednesday evening streams have seen us complete our sojourns through the Dutch world of Escape Simulator and the *Pew* world of Haven Park, double-jumping out the other end into Ori and the Will of the Wisps! These are accompanied by our post-Grim Hollow weekend switch-back to Return to Moria nestling up against our cosy end-of-week friend doodlage hour (or three).
And that's all the veggie wrote. I'll now write more though: Thank you all for your most generous and highly appreciated support! This time next fortnight I'll have a new comic or two to show, a bunch of progress on the Dead Island highlights video to natter about, perhaps some impatiently-awaited NOctober doodles and, of course, a small, roughly-embroidered leather pouch-worth of distractions.
Be kind to yourselves,
Crispy 💜
