The Height Of Distraction ~ Supporter Update (19/05/2025)

Lo! A new fortnight begins and-ahh, you thought I was going to say 'Behold!' didn't you? One cannot 'Lo!' without 'Behold!'ing afterwards, of course, that'd be perverse! Well call me a linguistic pervert because I, uh... actually on second thought don't do that, thank you kindly. Maybe even on first thought.

Now those of you sitting there eagerly awaiting my Monday noon-ish update post will probably be getting pretty hungry right about now. I promise this wasn't general lackadaisy or forgetfulness, it was in fact fully(ish) planned. For I have spent that time making a Height Chart!

Well, okay, strictly speaking I spent that time trying to finish the height chart, but I'm a man of limited velocity, grant me that at least.

So this long-static, recently-manifest idea is to stake a place on my website where you can flick through each and every one of my bafflingly numerous OCs in a nice, convenient and really quite silly way. Alas what we have so far is a way to look up 32 of my OCs in a rather incomplete way, but still it's a start! I'd hoped to finish their descriptions by now, but it's almost time for dinner and I can delay this update no longer, so you get all but eight of them.

Feel free to have a premature gander at it. It's not really built for phone screens right now, but you can still click buttons and watch characters swoop about to your heart's content.

Sort them by name, appearance, general colour, even randomly for fun mash-up groupings! Don't care about Avonvale or October & Co? That's fine! It doesn't hurt my feelings much! Simply hide them away and scroll through the rest! Have a bit of fun with it. I know I have.

The idea here is that I can slowly doodle another character here and there, thus expanding upon this incredible bunch as time goes by. Before we all know it this'll be full to the brim of characters about whom you'll be saying 'Who the hell is that?'!

For now though, we have some more concrete characterification to be dealing with. Specifically inelegant lore dumps about fictional boyfriends! Comic time!

I swear one of these days I'll put these comics somewhere other than here and Discord.

Now that I've bombarded you with something bordering productivity, I'm going to take this opportunity to quickly detail all of the miscellanea which has captured my shatter attention over the last fortnight.

These include, but are not limited to: Resuscitating an unexplored idea from my PhD thesis and convincing myself that it's provable and rather interesting to explore; Taking my first steps into making clothes by throwing together a quick skirt out of an old bedsheet; Doodling both boy- and girl-friends in the form of Jay & Kay and Cat & Rose; Making an emote commission; Doodling a Togedemaru in the guise of an RPG NPC; Throwing together ideas and material for a potential monthly newsletter; And generally just trying to get through some bad-head days. Wow! Much stuff! Very sparkle!

Streams! They also steal my attention. Albeit less so with the abolishment of chill morning streams. I do kind of miss prattling on about stuff and giving life updates during those, but I'm also finding myself with a heck of a lot more time to myself than usual to get things done. Which was the point, I suppose. So we'll be continuing with chill Discord hangouts in their stead for the near future!

Actual streams however face long-awaited turning points! Having thoroughly beaten all challenges pitted against us in Hitman 3 (I definitely did that, no need to check) we're moving on to pastures, uh, old in the form of Sherlock Holmes: Nemesis! Yes, once again the old Frogwares games rear their janky, croaking heads.

Weekends find us clanking our last in the final legs of Return to Moria, the search for mythril being our supposed last step on the journey to defeat the dragon! We literally found the exit, but the game said no, dragon first. Boo!

And Sundays are, well, you know the drill my now. Friends? Doodles? Nonsense? You got it!

And with that I flutter away like a chaotic pixie into the night's sky. By which I mean I jump off your rooftop expecting to fly, instead leaving a perfectly-formed parsnip-shaped indentation in the pavement below.

I promise that this time my major focus will be finishing this gosh-darn animatic. At this stage it's very much a case of just re-building enough steam to get through it, rather than there being any technical difficulty. Brains are silly like that.

But until next time I thank you all for your very gracious support! More comics, animatics, videos, silly jokes, self-indulgent website widgets and miscellany shall be coming your way!

Look after yourselves,
Crispy 💜
