G'timezone y'all. Here's a handy bit of advice: If you're ever planning on making an update to show people what you've made in the last fortnight, make sure that most of the visual matter demands keeping behind closed doors. That way you'll get self-conscious about how long your rambling's getting between pictures and actually edit your waffling down for a change. Do you think that'll help? Hmm? Are you listening? Oh, that's a mirror.
You guys are over here. Hi!
It may have only taken about a month, but I finally made a comic!
And the important thing is that nobody was hurt. Well, nobody who didn't want to be, anyway.
I've already aired this on stream but it bears repeating (bears badgering?) here, but I'm aiming to prioritise developing a simpler comic style. My keenness to apply newly-found illustrative techniques only slows down comic production, and boy is there a backlog that yearns to be cleared.
So in the coming couple of weeks I aim to explore simpler shapes and forms for my characters, so I can make quicker comics without simply resorting to "What I'm doing now, but faster". This'll involve making character sheets, a bunch of test doodles, etc, all stuff you'll see as I go, and will probably re-use in my OC height chart. These will, naturally, take time in the short-term but hopefully we'll save it in the long-term. Hopefully. Best-sown plants of rice and men, and all that.
Speaking of time-takers, I've completed the chunky batch of commissions I'd been chipping away at for the past month or so, leaving me ready(ish) to start opening and advertising slots to the unwitting public.
Even moreso on the time front, the next video is well on its way to getting out the door! The plan is to ship it (do ships go out of doors?) next week, hopefully on m'borfday. Partly by way of a celebration, and partly so people feel less inclined to yell at me for what I've done.
Besides the aforementioned, I've also been trying to bake croissants, attending family gatherings, eating snickerdoodles for the first time, and getting woken up by cats at any hour of the morning you care to mention.
Streaming! My, it feels like only yesterday...
Having wrapped up weeknight Viewfinder-ing in all its compelling melancholy, we leapt over to the brutalist wibbliness of Control, a game I knew little about going in and with whose spookiness and silliness I'm pleasantly surprised.
In the interval between Grim Hollow RPGs we've filled the Saturday void with some more Elden Ring "'"'`'"Seamless"'`'"'" Co-op, before scribbling our cares away in good company on the Sunday.
Speaking of which there shan't be a Sunday stream this week (12/04) because I'm going to a comedy show. Now Crispy, you may say, that's two in as many months! Isn't that a little excessive for someone with no money? To which I say, ah, it would be, were the first one not cancelled and rescheduled to this Sunday. I don't know why I brought you into this hypothetical conversation and put words in your dialogue box, but I'm pretending that my delete key's not working so it's too late now.
Another 13 days another sand dollar, as likely nobody says. We wrap up for now, but as promised you can look forward to a new video, opened commissions and a bunch of OC doodling experiments between now and when next we yap. Thank you profusely for your support, I'm doing everything in my power to make sure you get something good out of it. Well, not everything, but I also want some of that power to, you know, survive. I'm sure you'll allow me that luxury. Right?
Look after yourselves,
Crispy 💜
