Those Were The Days ~ Supporter Update (20-04-2026)

Welcome one and all to the 110th day of the year! That time of year in which nothing particularly interesting happens except people ask me why I know what number the day is. And then I simply stare just over their left shoulder, hearing echoes of gunfire and Clip Studio timelapse exports in the distance of my mind's ear, dissociating from reality as I'm thrust back into my personal purgatory of the mind. It's also hay fever season, so that's an embuggerance.

So in case you missed it, I done did the 100 Days doodle video.

I'll make a follow-up Patreon-exclusive post soon with both the full 100 and 80 day doodles for you to gander at and around if you do so desire. And just to reiterate, because apparently I might've been a touch vague in the video itself, I am not doing it again. Not. The negative. No. Niet. Nee. Nu-uh. XP

So besides frantically editing a 26-minute video in an 8-day deadline, what have I been up to? Primarily getting older. The video was released on my borfday and, apparently, that's the day when you have to remember a new number to denote how many years you've been annoying people for.

More usefully, however, I've been making and posting advertisements for my Ko-fi commissions, which has received great support from the Tumblr bot community, shout-outs to them. I've also been catching up on my giant pile of alt-text writing for social media posts, fixing typos in old comics, and doodling my OCs in a way that people complained was too 'emotionally devastating'.

I also saw comedy! That's right, I left my house for once and went to see a stand-up show, that of Alasdair Beckett-King, whom I have recommended before via his very silly Youtube videos and one of his podcasts 'Loremen'. I keep meaning to check out his other podcast 'Eleanor & Alasdair Read That' about reading old childhood books and seeing if they hold up, so I'll just give it a shout-out here since it might sound like your thing. Anywho, it transpires that he's also very funny in-person, because some people have all the skill and simply don't share it around. Rude, if you ask me.

Besides all the above I've spent a little time exploring some stylistic threads, including simplifying the rendering style and character design elements for quicker comic creation, and also reinventing Opie (my hitherto robotic Maitre D'Hotel rogue) in human form for a forthcoming foray into role-playing shenaniganisation.

Streams! What about them!? Oh, right, yes, I do them, sorry I forgot.

We're still plundering the depths of the Oldest House in Control, on our seemingly endless quest to hunt down our darling Casper and tell him it's all right and that he can perhaps play with a Newton's cradle to calm down.

Saturdays have seen us scamper about in Elden Ring Co-op before hopping back into the grim, yet rather silly, world of Grim Hollow, wherein we get to peer at good art commissioned from friends. 👀 Thence we continue on to Sunday's first-hand, ground-zero friend art doodlage and then once back around again for a spank-branding new week.

And lo, what lime from yonder martini breaks? It's another fortnight of nonsense. My current plan therein is to delve back into the early years of January & February with some more comicking, pushing commission ads a bit more heavily to help me pay for that really expensive thing I have coming up (you might know it as 'life'), continuing with my style experiments for ease of creation, whilst also planning for whatever the next video will be.

Immense thanks for your wonderful support as ever. I hope you feel I'm doing that generosity at least a modicum of justice. And the moral of the day is the classic "Don't paint a fence post the same colour as the wagon wheel." That one might be a bit out of date by now, but I'm sure you can find something in there. Also the word of the day is 'Grenadine' for reasons nobody's informed me of.

Look after yourselves,
